Note from the Pastor….

“Christian living in a nutshell”, the “Ten Commandments of the New Testament” is what the Beatitudes have been called. This will be the sermon series for Lent, beginning on Ash Wednesday which is March 1.

Rev. David Sellery writes about Lent,
“In the language of Oprah and Dr. Phil, Lent is God’s own psychic health spa — a 40-day free trip to concentrated spiritual wellness. Lent is God’s quiet time for all his hyper-active, self-involved children. The price of admission? Repent!….

So let us embrace the gift of Lent and make the most of it. Ash Wednesday is our gateway to Lent. The smudge of ashes on the outside reminds us of our mortality. But on the inside it lightens our hearts and cleanses our souls through God’s grace and our sincere repentance.”

I hope you will take some time this month to read over the Beatitudes, perhaps in different translations and prayerfully consider their meaning for you and for our church and for our world. Our Ash Wednesday service will be on Wednesday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m.
